Oskaloosa’s baseball team snapped a three game losing streak in style Monday (7/8) by winning a doubleheader at Pella. The Indians took the first game 12-1 in five innings, as they scored four runs in the first inning, three more in the second and another four in the third. Both Oskaloosa and Pella scored once in the fifth inning. Centerfielder Travis Miller was 4 for 4 in the first game with four runs scored, while third baseman Noah Van Veldhuizen had two hits and three runs batted in. On the mound, Colton Butler and Jarrett Czerwinski combined on a two-hitter. In game two, the Indians again started quickly, with three runs in the first inning and four more in the second on their way to an 8-2 win. First baseman Colton Butler had two hits and three RBI for the Indians. Wyatt Krier got the victory in relief. Oskaloosa improves to 18-8 overall and 14-5 in the Little Hawkeye Conference. Pella is now 9-19 overall and 3-12 in the Conference. The Indians return home Tuesday night (7/9) to host eighth-ranked Fairfield. We’ll have the game on KBOE-FM and KBOERadio dot com.
