Switching to high school baseball, Oskaloosa split a doubleheader at Dallas Center-Grimes Wednesday night (6/5). In the opener, Dallas Center-Grimes won a 2-1 pitching duel…as the Indians were held to three hits. Oskaloosa’s Rian Yates gave up only five hits and took the loss. In game two, the Indians broke the Mustangs 9-0 as Colton Butler had three hits and two runs batted in…and on the mound, Noah Van Veldhuizen and Colton Butler combined on a three hit shutout with Van Veldhuizen getting nine strikeouts in six innings for the victory. Oskaloosa’s now 1-2 in the Little Hawkeye Conference and 4-3 overall. The Indians play at Newton Friday night (6/7); we’ll have that game on KBOE-FM with the first pitch at 7:30.
