Patti Smith has announced that her new memoir, titled Year of the Monkey, will be released on September 24.
The book’s publisher Penguin Random House says Year of the Monkey is a profound, beautifully realized memoir in which dreams and reality are vividly woven into a tapestry of one transformative year.
“I began writing it on New Year’s Day, 2016 in cafes, trains and strange motels by the sea, with no particular design, until page by page it became a book,” Smith wrote on Instagram.
The National Book Award-winning author of her 2010 memoir Just Kids, Smith is a writer, performer, and visual artist.
She gained recognition in the 1970s for her revolutionary merging of poetry and rock. She has released twelve albums, including the highly influential debut “Horses”.
