Woodstock 50 organizers recently took to Instagram to thank all their supporters and fans and confirmed their intention to hold the festival.
“Thank you Woodstock Nation! To the more than 100,000 of you who have responded to our situation with support and solidarity… a heartfelt ‘thank you’,” said a message on Woodstock 50’s Instagram page.
“Our intention holds firm. To deliver a world-class, once-in-a-lifetime festival to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Woodstock,” the message continued. “To honor a cultural icon that changed the way we think about music and togetherness… and will do so again. We’re in this together, as reflected by your words of support.”
Last week, Woodstock 50 festival released a statement confirming their decision to move forward with the music festival, refuting news that its financial backers canceled the show.
“This confirms that Woodstock 50 is proceeding with the planning and production of the festival,” declared a statement from Marc Kasowitz, attorney for the festival. “Dentsu has no legal right or ability to cancel it.”
He added, “All stakeholders, including the entertainers, should proceed with the understanding that the event will take place as planned and if they have any questions, they should reach out directly.”
Dentsu Aegis Network’s Amplifi Live, the company that was providing financial backing for Woodstock 50, said it was “canceling the festival” because it doesn’t “believe the production…can be executed as an event worthy of the Woodstock Brand name while also ensuring the health and safety of the artists, partners and attendees.”
Woodstock 50 co-founder Michael Lang stated the 50th anniversary edition of the famous festival will go on, despite Dentsu’s withdrawal.
