Oskaloosa’s boys’ high school basketball team is one win away from going back to the state tournament. The Indians defeated Washington 78-53 Thursday night (2/21) in Oskaloosa to reach the Class 3A Substate 5 championship game. Senior Cole Henry had 25 points to lead the Indians…and those 25 points also allowed him to pass the 1000 point milestone for his high school career. Henry talked about the milestone after the game.
“It’s almost emotional because the last person to do this, I believe, was Tyler Sash, a good friend of mine. This is crazy, it’s an unbelievable feeling. I couldn’t do it without my teammates and the fan support around me. It’s been a great career….my last home game here tonight. It was magical.”
Fellow senior Rian Yates added 15 points for Oskaloosa, who are now 15-5 on the year. The Indians will take on Fairfield Monday night (2/25) in Mount Pleasant for the Substate title. We’ll have the game on KBOE-FM. Tipoff time is 7:00.
Also in Class 3A boys basketball Thursday, Fairfield beat Mount Pleasant 51-30, Pella over Carlisle 80-51, Norwalk defeated Dallas Center-Grimes 68-48.
