William Penn University’s men’s and women’s basketball games against Clarke Wednesday (1/30) have been rescheduled on account of the extreme cold. Those games will be made up on Monday, February 4 at Penn Gymnasium.
The new NAIA Division I college basketball rankings are out. William Penn’s men drop from second to 14th after losing four of their last five. It’s the first time the Statesmen men have been out of the NAIA top ten in nearly three years. And the Statesmen women move up one spot to 18th. William Penn’s men and women will host MidAmerica Nazarene Saturday afternoon (2/2).
Last night at Penn Gymnasium, it was senior night for the Statesmen wrestlers. Central put a damper on the celebrations by winning the dual meet 35-13. Senior Austin Goinn got a pinfall win for the Statesmen at 174 pounds; Senior Johnny Hopper won a major decision at 165 and junior Darquell Pierre won a decision at 133. The Statesmen wrestlers will compete at the Missouri Valley Open on Saturday.
