From first to fifth. After a two week break for the holidays, the Associated Press released its Iowa state boys’ high school basketball rankings Monday (1/7). Oskaloosa fell from first to fifth in the Class 3A poll after the Indians lost twice before the Christmas break. Both teams that beat Oskaloosa are also in the 3A poll: Pella is ranked fourth and Norwalk seventh. Oskaloosa’s next game is Friday night at home against Pella Christian; we’ll have that game on KBOE-FM and the No Coast Network.
In the AP’s Class 1A boys’ poll, Montezuma remains second with Lynnville-Sully receiving votes.
Monday night in boys’ high school basketball: EBF defeated Twin Cedars 80-22, North Polk edged Grinnell 75-74 and Pella Christian over Knoxville 80-39. Girls’ basketball: Sigourney defeated WACO 57-25, Pella Christian edged Knoxville 47-45 and PCM over Grand View Christian 71-29.
Tonight (1/8) in high school basketball, these are boys’ and girls’ doubleheaders: North Mahaska at Sigourney, Ottumwa plays Ankeny at the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Pella hosts ADM, Twin Cedars at Diagonal, EBF at Albia, Lynnville-Sully at Iowa Valley, PCM at Fairfield and Keota hosts HLV.
