William Penn’s men’s basketball team improved to 2-0 on the season Wednesday night with a 74-73 win at Lincoln, Illinois. The Statesmen trailed by seven at halftime, but got off to a 12-5 start in the second half to tie the score at 44 and it was nip and tuck from there. A basket and two free throws in the final seconds gave the Statesmen the win. Senior Omar Sherman had 19 points and 12 rebounds for William Penn—on a night when William Penn turned the ball over 27 times. The Statesmen men will host Emmaus Bible School Saturday afternoon at 4.
