Pella is going to the State High School Volleyball Tournament. The Lady Dutch defeated Clear Creek-Amana Monday night (10/29) in the Class 4A Region 7 title game three sets to two. Clear Creek-Amana won the first two sets, but Pella rallied to take the next three, 25-20, 25-19 and 15-9. Emily Holterhaus had 24 kills and 8 blocks for the Lady Dutch. Pella will take a 31-6 record into the tournament next Tuesday (11/6) when they take on Cedar Rapids Xavier in the first round. Ironically, Xavier defeated Pella last Friday in the first round of the 3A State football playoffs.
In Class 3A, Tipton defeated EBF in three straight sets to win the Region 6 title in Grinnell. The scores were 25-14, 25-15 and 25-12. The Rockets end the year with a 12-22 record. Also in 3A, Davenport Assumption swept Albia 3-0 to win the Region 7 title last night in West Burlington. Scores in that game were 25-7, 25-15, 25-17.
Tonight (10/30) in high school volleyball, #7 Montezuma takes on #10 New London for the Class 1A Region 7 crown. That game will be in Ottumwa at Evans Middle School. We’ll have the game on KBOE-FM and the No Coast Network. First serve is scheduled for 7:30; we’ll be on the air around 7:15. And in Class 2A, Pella Christian plays 4th ranked Sidney for the Region 5 title. That game starts at 7 tonight in Creston.
