At the State High School Cross Country meet Saturday (10/27) in Fort Dodge, Oskaloosa’s Carter Huyser was 31st in the 3A boys race and the Indians’ Lauren Coon was 55th in 3A girls. Also in 3A girls, Pella was sixth in the team competition, led by Makayla Kruse in 11th place, Grinnell was ninth in team competition, with Mary Blanchard sixth overall. In 3A boys, Pella was fifth in the team race with Josiah Wittenberg finishing sixth. Albia was 14th in 2A girls, led by Sherryl Mae Rowe coming in 30th. Albia’s boys were ninth in 2A with Landon Noe finishing eighth and teammate Brock Ratliff 13th. In 1A girls, Cheyenne Shaw of North Mahaska finished 11th and Elise Boulton of Montezuma was 35th. And in 1A boys, Pekin was 12th, as Brady Millikin finished 7th and Colton Glosser was 13th.
No swimmer from Oskaloosa qualified for state in Saturday’s regional meet. Senior Veronica Bolibaugh set a school record in the 100 freestyle with a time of 58 point 58 seconds.
