In college volleyball, second ranked Grand View swept William Penn three sets to none last night (10/23) in Penn Gymnasium. The scores were 25-15, 25-13 and 26-24. Jordan Carter and Danielle Pendzinski had six kills apiece for the Statesmen. William Penn plays at Graceland tomorrow night.
Switching to basketball, William Penn’s men are ranked second in the nation in the preseason NAIA poll. Earlier, the Statesmen had been ranked number one by Street and Smith’s Basketball Yearbook. Tonight (10/24), the Statesmen men host Indian Hills Community College in an exhibition game at 7 at Penn Gymnasium.
And the Statesmen women are ranked 29th in the NAIA preseason poll. The Statesmen women have their first competition on Saturday afternoon (10/27) against Association Free Lutheran Bible School.
Finally, for the first time ever, William Penn’s men’s soccer team is nationally ranked. The Statesmen are ranked 18th in this week’s NAIA poll. The Statesmen men’s and women’s soccer teams play at Culver-Stockton tonight (10/24).
