Indianaola won the boys title and Dallas Center-Grimes the girls title Monday at the Little Hawkeye Conference cross country meet in Oskaloosa. In the girls race, Pella was second, with Grinnell third, Newton sixth, Oskaloosa seventh and Pella Christian eighth. Pella’s Caroline McMartin won the girls race in a time of 20 minutes, 33.6 seconds—some 12 seconds ahead of runner-up Mary Blanchard of Grinnell. Oskaloosa’s Lauren Coon finished eighth to earn All-Conference honors for a fourth time. Annaliese Admiraal of Pella Christian was 28th.
In the boys race, Pella was third, followed by Grinnell and Oskaloosa. Eric Baldus of Indianola took individual honors, with Oskaloosa’s Carter Huyser second. Matthew Cunningham of Grinnell finished third. Pella’s top runner was Drew Van Hauen in sixth place. Pella Christian’s first finisher was Lucas Bandstra in 19thplace. Next up on the cross country calendar will be the District meets October 18.
The Class 3A meet will be in Pella.
