William Penn’s football team almost knocked off a top ten team Saturday (9/29). The Statesmen led 8th ranked Evangel 14-13 early in the fourth quarter, thanks to a 97 yard interception return by Detorien Rawlinson and a one yard run by Tyler Wood. But Evangel would take advantage of a bad snap on a Statesmen punt and drive for a go-ahead touchdown..en route to an eventual 28-14 victory.
William Penn is now 2-4 on the season. They have a bye this week, then host Culver-Stockton Saturday, October 13.
It was a rough Saturday for William Penn’s soccer teams. The Statesmen men and women both lost 6-0 at Central Methodist. For the men, that snapped their school record seven game winning streak. William Penn’s men are now 3-1 in the Heart of America Conference and 8-2 overall. The Statesmen women drop to 0-4 in the conference and 4-5-1 overall. William Penn’s soccer teams will host Grand View on Wednesday.
William Penn’s volleyball team saw its five game winning streak end over the weekend. The Statesmen lost to Mid America Nazarene three sets to one on Friday (9/28), then were swept on Saturday (9/29) by 24th ranked Central Methodist. The Statesmen are now 3-4 in the conference and 15-7 overall. The Statesmen wrap up their home stand Tuesday night (10/2) against Graceland.
