William Penn’s volleyball team continues its home stand tonight when the Statesmen host Peru State at 7:00. Going into tonight, the Statesmen are 13-5 on the season and 2-2 in the Heart of America Conference. Those 13 wins are one more than William Penn had all of last season. I asked hitter Jordan Carter of Sigourney what has made the difference in this year’s team. “It’s definitely a lot more fun than last year. I think that we’ve really come together as a family. That’s what we say after every huddle. So we’ve come together as a family a lot and we’ve got a lot more energy than last year and work together a lot better.”
Again, the Statesmen host Peru State tonight at 7 at Penn Gymnasium.
And William Penn takes a commanding 37 stroke lead going into today’s second round of the Statesmen Classic women’s golf tournament at Edmundson Golf Course in Oskaloosa. As a team, the Statesmen are 8 over par for the tournament with William Penn golfers occupying the first five individual spots, led by Elisa Warne with an even par 71. Teammate Brittany Evans is one shot back in second with Helene Larson third after shooting a 74.
