William Penn’s football team dropped a 20-13 decision at Central Methodist Saturday. The Statesmen scored on their first two possessions, both times on runs by quarterback Tyler Wood. But that was all the scoring for the Statesmen, who saw their two game winning streak come to an end. The 2-3 Statesmen host tenth-ranked Evangel Saturday afternoon at Lacey Recreation Complex. Goose eggs, donuts, whatever you want to call them, William Penn’s men’s soccer team is racking them up. The Statesmen beat Evangel 5-0 Saturday in Springfield for their fifth consecutive shutout. Freshman Bernardo Lima scored twice for William Penn. At 7-1, the Statesmen men are off to the best start in school history.
The Statesmen women also played at Evangel Saturday and lost 5-2. Both William Penn soccer teams will host Missouri Valley on Wednesday.
