Warhawk Boys Cage Bears, 79-53

BROOKLYN – North Mahaska was firing on all cylinders Friday as they wrapped up the South Iowa Cedar League contests with a 79-53 victory at BGM. The Warhawks drained a dozen 3-pointers and took advantage of 26 BGM turnovers to secure the win.

Four Warhawks finished in double figures and another had nine. NM doubled up BGM in the opening period 26-12 and extended the lead to 56-24 by halftime.

Senior Nolan Andersen spearheaded the North Mahaska (14-5) attack with 17 points, 13 rebounds and eight assists. Senior Nate Sampson added 15 points, six assists, five rebounds and three steals. Juniors Gabe Hora and Lucas Nunnikhoven chipped in 14 and 13 points respectively.
Asher DeBoef just missed a double-double with nine points, eight rebounds, five assists and three steals. Brayden Veiseth had six points and four steals.

BGM (7-13) had three players in double figures. Beau Burns led the way with 11 points while Dakota Heishman and Dominic Coleman scored 10 apiece. Coleman also had nine rebounds, five assists and two steals.

North Mahaska will play Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont Monday and at Oskaloosa Tuesday before hosting Martensdale-St. Marys Friday. They will open tournament play next week at a site and time to be determined later this week.
