North Mahaska Girls Back on Winning Track

BAXTER – North Mahaska’s girls rebounded (literally) from a loss to Montezuma Friday with a dominating 75-20 victory at Baxter Monday. The No. 9 Warhawks pulled down 37 rebounds including 19 on the offensive end and recorded 18 steals to secure the nonconference win.

North Mahaska (12-2, 9-1) used their punishing defense t put the game away early holding the host Bolts scoreless into the second quarter. NM led 29-0 after one and built a commanding 47-8 lead by halftime, which meant the second half was a continuous clock. NM limited the Bolts to single digit scoring in the final three periods.

Sydney Andersen led a trio of double-digit scorers for North Mahaska. She hit for 18 while Regan Grewe added 14 and Breckyn Schilling chipped in 10. Reserves Peyton Sanders scored nine and Nataliya Linder scored seven. Kayla Readshaw hit for five.

Schilling added six rebounds, seven assists and four steals to her line. Andersen and Linder had six and five rebounds respectively. Grewe recorded five steals.

No stats were available for Baxter at press time.

North Mahaska returns to action Tuesday with a South Iowa Cedar League contest with HLV.
