North Mahaska Girls Crown Two Champs at Pekin

PACKWOOD – North Mahaska’s four wrestlers had a successful night at Pekin High School Monday winning two titles and two fifth places. Kaylia Shipman at 125 pounds and Macie Little at 130 took first place while Kieren Perez at 145 and Amara Edwards-Hinton placed fifth.

Shipman pinned her way to the title taking down Brooklyn Feddersen of Mount Vernon in 37 seconds. She followed that up with a pin of Harper Lettington of Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont in 1:53. In the title match Cardinal’s Bryleigh Sparks went down in 3:47.

Little pinned Madison Connell of Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont in 16 seconds in her opening match. She scored a 9-0 major decision in the semifinals over Albia’s Paige Popson. She faced Cardinal’s Macy Grove in the finals match pinning Popson in 1:29.

Perez lost by pin to Albia’s Gabby Smith then won her consolation match with a pin of Lone Tree’s Alex Dautremont in 1:29. She lost her consolation match to move to the fifth place match. She pinned Audra Steigledger of Pekin in 1:34.

Edwards-Hinton lost by pin in her opening round then received a bye in the first round of consolations. She lost in the semifinals then won her fifth place match via a forfeit.
