STEELY DAN'S 'GAUCHO' TO BE REISSUED ON VINYL

Steely Dan’s ‘Gaucho’ To Be Reissued On Vinyl

Steely Dan’s Grammy-winning seventh studio album Gaucho is set to be reissued on vinyl on December 1.

Gaucho was originally released on November 21, 1980 by MCA Records. At the 24th Annual Grammy Awards, Gaucho won Best Engineered Recording – Non-Classical, and was nominated for Album of the Year and Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals.

The album featured the Top 10 hit “Hey Nineteen” and other fan favorites such as “Time Out Of Mind,” with guest lead guitar by Mark Knopfler, and “Babylon Sisters.”

Other guests on the album included Michael McDonald, Jeff Porcaro, Bernard Purdie, Ralph MacDonald, Hugh McCracken, The Brecker Brothers, and David Sanborn.

This is the fifth Steely Dan record to get a vinyl reissue. The reissue program, which Donald Fagen has overseen, started with their 1972 debut, Can’t Buy A Thrill, reissued in November 2022. It was followed by 1973’s Countdown to Ecstasy, which dropped in May, and 1974’s Pretzel Logic, which dropped in July. Aja was reissued on September 29.

The program plans to reissue two more albums — 1975’s Katy Lied and 1976’s The Royal Scam — over the next year.
