Albia’s Main Stroll Event in the Downtown Business District
December 2, 2017 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Come take a step back in time and experience the Christmas season at our annual Victorian Stroll. In addition to the live window scenes and the many carolers singing in the streets, courthouse and stores, there is so much more to see and do. Most of all we’d love for you to take in the joy and warmth of the holiday season and have a prosperous New Year!
In the Spirit of Victorian Times, the people of Albia have graciously baked countless cookies, dug deep into their pockets to fund the Stroll and volunteer their time and talents to make the Victorian Stroll a success for more than 20 years.
Find your way through town by the hand lit luminaries lining Main Street. Warm yourself and enjoy live entertainment in one of three hospitality centers from 6:00 – 8:00 pm with a cup of hot cocoa or coffee and a home baked cookie located in each of the two community banks and in the courthouse.
Civil War Re-enactment presented by 1861 to 1865 Civil War Re-enactors, 3rd Iowa, Company C, Light Artillery, located on the Northwest corner of the Courthouse lawn.
Enjoy the high energy of the Sugar Creek Cloggers at the American Legion and grab a bite to eat while you warm up. The American Legion will be serving soups and sandwiches from 5:00 – 8:00 pm.
Sample freshly roasted chestnuts from a street vendor located on the North side of the square during the Stroll.
Enjoy Soups on the Go while Strolling. The local Boy Scouts will be serving chili and Johathan Voughn will be serving homemade soups.
Authentic Blacksmith will be at work on the West side of the courtyard. Watch a Ferrier at work on the West side of the square. View the Albia Victorian Throw available for purchase at First Iowa State Bank, The Albia Chamber Office or Antiques and More during the Stroll.
Enjoy stepping back in time while watching the Albia Theatre group perform “The Untagged Gift” written by Betsy Jones. The curtain will rise at 8:30 pm in the beautiful King Opera House one block off of the Northeast corner of the square.
End the evening at the Ugly Sweater Holiday Party with music by Lucas Beebe at the KC Hall from 8:00 pm until midnight where appetizers will be provided and drinks will be available for purchase while enjoying a fun evening with family and friends. $10 cover charge at the door. Proceeds benefit High School Scholarships.
