OSKALOOSA – An Oskaloosa man faces multiple charges after leading law enforcement officers on a high-speed chase through Mahaska County yesterday morning.
Court documents state that an officer observed 45-year-old Ryan Jaennette riding a motorcycle northbound on Gateway Drive in Oskaloosa at approximately 2:51 AM on Monday, September 28. Jaennette’s motorcycle reportedly had a taillight out and the officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop. Jaennette allegedly circled around the Walmart parking lot before fleeing westbound on Highway 92, where police say he would reach speeds in excess of 80 miles per hour in a 45 mph zone, as well as speeds in excess of 90 mph in a 60 mph zone.
The motorcycle ultimately came to a stop and authorities later learned that Jaennette’s driver’s license had been barred, and that his motorcycle’s license plate was registered to a trailer. Jaennette was reportedly unable to provide proof of insurance during the stop.
Jaennette was arrested and he now faces charges of Eluding – Speed Over 25 Over Limit (Class D felony) and Driving While Barred (aggravated misdemeanor).
