OTTUMWA – A student in the Ottumwa Community School District was struck by a vehicle near a bus stop yesterday, but is expected to make a full recovery.

The district shared on social media that the accident occurred after school at a bus stop approximately one block away from the school. They added that they are working closely with the student and their family to provide support, and thanked the emergency personnel involved for their response to the situation.

Families in the area are reminded to stay alert and drive with caution in and around schools and bus stops by watching for students, buses, and crossing pedestrians, and being mindful of reduced speeds and changing traffic patterns during arrival and dismissal times.
