DAVIS COUNTY — The Davis County School District has officially canceled its 2026 varsity football season. The district’s full statement is below.
“The Davis County Community School District announces the cancellation of its 2026 varsity football season, effective immediately. This decision was not made lightly. It was driven by low participation numbers and player safety concerns, we feel this is the right thing to do at this time.
“The health and well-being of our student-athletes remain our highest priority, leading us to conclude that canceling the varsity season is the most responsible course of action.
“We commend the dedication, hard work, and resilience of our student-athletes, who have shown tremendous commitment to the team. We are grateful for the support of our community and are focused on strengthening our football program for future success. Davis County will look to rebuild the program by playing a JV only schedule. A schedule will be released at a later date.
“There will be a football parent meeting in the High School commons on Tuesday, August 11th at 6:00 PM.
“Thanks for your support and understanding,
Megan Christiansen – Superintendent
Tom Hallgren – High School Principal
Dave Mason – Activities Director
Phil Lite – Head Football Coach”
