Boston’s lead singer Tommy DeCarlo, who has been battling brain cancer, has died at the age of 60.
DeCarlo’s family confirmed the news of his death in a message posted on Facebook on Monday, saying, “It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our Dad, Tommy DeCarlo, on Monday, March 9th, 2026. After being diagnosed with brain cancer last September, he fought with incredible strength and courage right up until the very end.”
“During this difficult time, we kindly ask that friends and fans respect our family’s privacy as we grieve and support one another,” the family added.
DeCarlo, who joined Boston in 2007 after its original lead singer Brad Delp’s death, has served as the band’s lead or co-lead singer since then for every subsequent touring lineup.
DeCarlo, who was a fan of Boston since childhood, wrote and recorded an original song about Delp following his death as well as a couple of Boston covers.
Noticing it on DeCarlo’s MySpace page, Boston founding member Tom Scholz contacted him and recruited him to the band.
DeCarlo and his wife Annie are parents to two children – Talia and Tommy Jr.
