OSKALOOSA — The Statesmen football team moved up two more positions in the national rankings as the NAIA released its eighth top-25 poll Monday, sponsored by Netting Professionals.
WPU (8-1, 3-1 Heart North) improves to No. 17 with 182 points. It is the sixth time the navy and gold have been featured in the top 25 this fall. The ranking is the highest for the program since being No. 13 on October 26, 2015.
There are once again five programs from the Heart of America Athletic Conference in the rating. Grand View remains first with 14 first-place votes, while Benedictine is third. MidAmerica Nazarene (unofficially No. 30) and Baker (No. 35) are in the receiving votes section as well.
Keiser (Fla.) is second in the NAIA with the final two first-place votes. Friends (Kan.) is fourth and Montana Tech is fifth to conclude the top five.
WPU stays in Oskaloosa Saturday to host Graceland in a Heart North game at 1 p.m.
