Loring’s 200-Yard Performance Leads to POW Honor

OSKALOOSA — Destynd Loring (Sr., Charleston S.C., Sports Management) put the team on his back last Saturday, and for his efforts he was named Heart of America Athletic Conference Football Offensive Player of the Week Monday, presented by Musco Lighting.

Now a three-time career weekly honoree, Loring led the Statesmen past then-No. 16 Baker 24-13.

The senior opened his outing with a 48-yard run, part of 62 rushing yards on the squad’s first possession.  He added five more double-digit runs during the victory, including a 12-yard scamper to cap the day’s scoring.

Loring finished with 203 yards on 26 carries (7.8 avg.); he scored three rushing touchdowns in the victory.  Additionally, he caught three passes for 21 yards.

For the year, Loring has rushed 65 times for 420 yards (6.5 avg.) and eight touchdowns.  The senior also has six receptions for 47 yards.

The honor is the first of the year for WPU.
