English rock group Faces’s Rod Stewart, Ronnie Wood and Kenny Jones are working on a new album, the band’s fist in over 50 years.
In a recent interview with The Telegraph, the band’s drummer and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fames Jones revealed that a new album from the group is on the way and “about 11 tracks” have been recorded at RAK Studios in London. He also revealed that musician and host Jools Holland will feature on one of the tracks.
“Not all of them are going to be right [for the album],” the 77-year-old drummer said of the recorded songs. “But most of them are good.
“I can’t see it coming out this year,” added Jones. “But I can see it coming out next year. Everyone’s doing different things. We do little snippets [of recording] here and there. Then all of a sudden, The Stones are out [on tour] again, Rod’s out again…”
The Telegraph also referenced Stewart (aged 80) has teased the existence of an album over the past four years. After noting that a record was in progress in 2021, Stewart provided an update last year, saying, “We haven’t finished it yet, but we’ll finish it this year, I promise.”
Formed in 1969, Faces released four albums throughout their tenure: First Step (1970) Long Player (1971), A Nod Is As Good As a Wink… to a Blind Horse (1971) and Ooh La La (1973).
Faces’ founding guitarist Ronnie Lane died in 1997, and keyboardist Ian McLagan passed away in 2014. The surviving members reunited several times after the group disbanded. The last reunion was in 2020, when they performed their song “Stay with Me” at the BRIT awards that year.
