OFFBEAT NEWS:
Cops Rescue Duck Stuck On Train Tracks
Being a cop in New York City means you’re bound to see some crazy things. A duck trying to take the subway? That’s new.
The bird had made it’s way down and when the cops arrived, they had to chase the duck down. Eventually, they managed to capture the animal.
Four police officers all worked to bring the animal to safety and eventually released it in a nearby park. According to Chief Joseph Fox, the “apprehension went swimmingly.”

Woman’s Hair Measures 90-Inches-Long
Aliia Nasyrova is a real life Rapunzel. The woman from Riga, Latvia has been growing out her hair from 20 years and it’s officially reached 90-inches-long.
As you might imagine, having a mane that long is not exactly easy. The 4.5-pounds of hair takes an entire day to air dry and an hour to brush through. It even takes up it’s own space in the bed, which isn’t always easy for Aliia’s hubby, Ivan Balaban.
“I am always cuddling up the wall to give more space for hair, so there is no way I can damage it accidentally, mix them up or harm it any other way,” Ivan explains, adding that he sees his wife’s hair as another family member. “I always talk to the braid respectfully. Sometimes I ask it to move a bit.”

Mafia Criminals Aren’t Allowed To Be Godfathers Anymore
Don’t even bother trying to make him an offer he can’t refuse, Michele Pennisi doesn’t want to hear it. The bishop of Monreale, Sicily has banned known mafia criminals from acting as godfathers in his dioceses.
“The mafia has always taken the term godfather from the church to give its bosses an air of religious respectability,” the bishop explains, “whereas in fact the two worlds are completely incompatible.”
Fittingly, Pennisi’s diocese includes Corleone, where Marlon Brando’s “Godfather” character Don Corleone was born.

STUPID CRIMINALS:
Robber breaks leg, calls for help, gets arrested:
If you’re in the midst of committing a crime, you’re sort of on your own when it comes to getting medical help. Leoul Yosef was fleeing from an apartment he’d allegedly robbed in Alexandria, Virginia when he leaped off the second floor balcony and broke his leg when he hit the snow-covered ground. The 21-year-old called 911 and when authorities arrived, they traced his footprints back to the scene of the crime and matched the identity of the caller to the burglary suspect. He’ll be charged after getting out of the hospital.
Drug smuggler caught because he was “nervous”:
The first lesson of drug smuggling is stay calm, something Mayobanex Ruiz Gomez was clearly not good at. The man arrived in New York from the Dominican Republic and was spotted by Customs and Border Protection agents because he “exhibited numerous signs of nervousness” while his suitcase was being examined. Gomez was then subject to a physical search, which turned up about five pounds of cocaine duct taped to Gomez’s legs, which an estimated street value of $83-thousand. Gomez is now facing a federal narcotics smuggling charge.
ICYMI: Serial dine-and-dasher who leaves women stuck with the bill on dates strikes again:
Dave Gonzales does not leave his dates with a good first impression. According to Los Angeles authorities, the 44-year-old has the nasty habit of dining-and-dashing, leaving women he meets on the app Bumble stuck with the bill. Sometimes he goes by Paul, but regardless of what he calls himself, he also has two bench warrants out for his arrest after not showing up to court for petty theft and driving without a valid license. As for his victims, at least one was able to get Gonzales’ meal comped. She only had to pay for her glass of wine. She probably had a few more before going home.
