NORTH MAHASKA BOYS 2ND, JEDLICKA SECOND AT SIGOURNEY

North Mahaska Boys 2nd, Jedlicka Second at Sigourney

SIGOURNEY – In their second meet of the season North Mahaska cross country runners continue to compete well. Between middle school girls, high school girls and high school boys, the Warhawks had six runners finish in the top 15. The runners competed at the Sigourney Golf and Country Club.

Juniors Emmerson Jedlicka and Ava Huffman placed second and fifth respectively in the high school race. The girls had just three runners so were not able to compete for a team score. Jedlicka finished in 21 minutes 22.9 seconds. English Valleys’ Anna Luers won the race in 20:52.7. Huffman came across the line in 21:48.30. Another junior, Amber Knockel was 24th with a time of 27:22.0. There were 42 girls competing. EV won the meet with 20 points.

Ben Yang led North Mahaska in the boy’s race with a 12th place finish in 19:35.50. Fellow senior Axl Patterson was 15th in 20:20.60. The entire field was chasing English Valley senior Greg Heyne, who won in 16:52.30. 

Sophomore Maddox Wynja posted a 20th place finish in 21:04.4 and Kincaid Mitchell rounded out the Warhawk scoring with a 22nd finish in 21:18.9. Also competing was freshman Cain Grandia, who finished in 23:52.30 and William Cox ran in 27.10.0.

Columbus won the boys race with 21 points while North Mahaska scored 69. They were followed by HLV, 79; Belle Plaines 94; and Iowa Valley, 97.

Jade DeBoef was third for the middle school girls in 11:06.40. Aiyla Ray was 14th in 12:50.40; Addelynn Ray was 24th in 14:21.10; and Mallory Schippers was 29th in 15:05.10.

The teams run at Colfax-Mingo on Thursday.
