Sigourney Overcomes Slow Start for 12-0 Win over North Mahaska

NEW SHARON – North Mahaska limited Sigourney to a pair of singles through the first four innings Wednesday but the visiting Savages utilized walks and errors to explode for 12 runs in three innings to secure a12-0 victory at North Mahaska. The host Warhawks walked seven batters, hit two and committed five errors.

Caden Clarahan had a masterful night on the mound for Sigourney allowing just a single to Nolan Andersen in the fourth inning. Clarahan struck out 10 Warhawks and walked two in five innings of work.

Sigourney scored twice in the third and fourth innings then erupted for eight runs on five hits and two errors in the fifth. The Savage defense held in the bottom of the fifth to end the game.

North Mahaska utilized four pitchers. Jaxon Vander Veer, Carson Doak, Dave Van Mersbergen and Rylan Spray combined for 12 runs on seven hits, seven walks, and two hit batsmen. Doak recorded the team’s lone strikeout. 

North Mahaska will travel to Montezuma Friday.
