LYNNVILLE – Under sunlit skies seven teams including North Mahaska traversed the par-72 golf course at Diamond Trail in Lynnville in the Class 1A boy’s sectional on Wednesday. North Mahaska placed fifth in the meet with a 351. Hillcrest Academy and BGM advanced as teams. Hillcrest scored a 313 while BGM carded a 315.

Roman Miller of Hillcrest, who tied for seventh at last season’s state meet, was medalist with a 2-under par 70. Teammate Liam Schrock shot a 73. Dominic Coleman and Ethan Bridgewater of BGM were third and fourth with 77 and 78 respectively.

North Mahaska’s golfers shot some of their best 18-hole rounds of the season but did not advance to next week’s district meet. Five of the Warhawks shot under 100 in the tourney. Jaxon Van Der Veer posted a 39-42 – 81 to lead the way. Nolan Andersen carded a 43-43 – 86 and Jack Kelderman and Maddox Wynja finished with 92s. Both went 47-45 – 92. Jacob Held had his best round of the season finishing 48-46 – 94. Jeremiah Ashman shot 53-54  – 107.
