SPOKANE — Adaugo Nwachukwu (Jr., San Jose, Calif., Exercise Science) was dominant in picking up yet another title as she won the crown at USMC Women’s Nationals last weekend.
Nwachukwu claimed the 62 kg championship with a perfect 6-0 record, outscoring her opposition 65-1. It is her fourth age-group national title.
Nwachukwu opened the competition with a fall over Kendall Bostelman (Ohio) in a time of 4:51.
She then cleared her next three opponents by technical fall, including defeating Taylor Colangelo (Ariz.) 10-0, Samantha Barragan (Calif.) 13-0, and Niya Gaines (Ill.) 11-0 to reach the finals.
In the best-of-three championship round, Nwachukwu permitted her first and only point of the tournament, but still swept Marisol Nugent (Mass.) by scores of 8-1 and 12-0.
Nwachukwu, who is a three-time NAIA national champion, is also a 2022 U20 World bronze medalist and a 2023 Final X participant.
