VICTOR – North Mahaska sophomore Kayla Readshaw had a strong game offensively and defensively Monday, but HLV was a bit too much for the Warhawks. Readshaw hit a single and two homeruns to drive in four runs.
North Mahaska scored single runs in the second, third and fourth innings and led 3-1 entering the bottom of the fourth. HLV scored two to tie the game, but NM answered with three more runs to lead 6-3. Then the host Warriors put up four runs in the bottom of the fifth and two in the sixth to secure the victory.
Readshaw was credited with six putouts but the team committed six errors and gave up 10 hits. NM freshman Madeline Doonan hit three singles with an RBI.
Regan Grewe took the loss for the Warhawks throwing four innings allowing six runs on eight hits, two walks and a strikeout. Jocelyn Pinkerton tossed two innings giving up three runs on two hits and three walks. She struck out one.
The Warhawks host Lynnville-Sully Wednesday, go to No. 12 in Class 3A Grinnell Thursday then to BGM Friday. NM will host Baxter and Pleasantville in a round-robin event on Saturday.
