The Associated Press revealed its college football preseason All-American teams for 2022 yesterday, and a handful of representatives from the state of Iowa were honored by the media.
Seniors Jack Campbell and Riley Moss of the Iowa Hawkeyes were selected to the first team as linebacker and defensive back, respectively. Campbell and Moss have each seen their preseason honors pile up entering the 2022 season as the Hawkeyes look to feature a strong defense once again. The Hawkeyes were one of only two programs to feature multiple players on the AP first team defense, along with Alabama.
Senior edge rusher Will McDonald IV of the Iowa State Cyclones also made the AP All-America first team and has received similar amounts of preseason honors. McDonald has tallied 22.0 sacks over his last two seasons.
