The Associated Press released their preseason college football top 25 poll yesterday, and the Iowa Hawkeyes will begin the 2022 season on the outside looking in. The Hawkeyes landed just out of reach of the top 25 in the receiving votes section, with their 163 points slotting them 3 spots out of the rankings for the 28th highest total. Coach Kirk Ferentz, however, is undeterred by the ranking at this point on the calendar.
Iowa finished the 2021 season with a 10-4 win-loss record between the regular and postseason, ranking 23rd in the final AP poll of the season.
The Hawkeyes will face 3 preseason top 25 opponents on their schedule in 2022. They host #8 Michigan on October 1, travel to #2 Ohio State on October 22, and welcome #18 Wisconsin on November 19.
