Oskaloosa, Iowa: Wednesday night was Kids Night at the races at the Southern Iowa Speedway sponsored by Middlekoop Seeds and Dickey Transport. A great crowd attended the races which saw a large candy and nickel scramble for the kids during intermission.
Nathan Wood continued his recent hot streak in the Midstate Machine Stock Car division by winning his third feature win in a row in the very tough racing class. The main event took the green with Steve Byers setting sail from his front row start. Byers had his lead erased when the car of Donnie Pearson came to a stop with engine failure setting up a restart which saw Wood overtake Byers and go on to score the win. Byers fought off the late race charge by Dustin Griffiths to hold on for second, Griffiths took third ahead of Derrick Agee.
Aaron Martin took advantage of a front row start in the Parker Tree Service Hobby Stocks, leading the main event flag to flag in scoring a comfortable win. Second was up for grabs as Dustin Griffiths and Trevor Tanner battled wheel to wheel lap after lap on the big ½ mile. Griffiths would take second ahead of Tanner with Brad Stephens rounding out the top four.
Maguire DeJong drove his number 30 to an impressive win in the Osklaoosa Quality Rentals Sportmod class. DeJong took the lead form early leader Logan Anderson and went on to record the feature win well ahead of Anderson and Curtis VanDerWal.
Terry Bickford added to his slim margin of a season point lead in the Dirt N Asphalt Sport Compact class with another feature win. Bickford battled with Matt Moore early in the main event before moving on to a two car length win ahead of Moore and last weeks feature winner James Haring.
Ben Woods has become the driver to beat in the Clow Valve Company Non-Wing Sprint Car division. Woods shot in to the lead early and went on to score the feature win ahead of Robert Bell. Steve Pumphrey crossed under the checkers in third.
