David Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust is set to be re-released in celebration of the album’s 50th anniversary.
Bowie’s estate announced the issue of two 50th anniversary vinyl versions of the album via Parlophone on 17th June 2022.
The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars will be issued as a limited edition 50th anniversary half speed mastered LP and a picture disc, featuring the same master and a replica promotional poster for the album.
According to the press release, “This new pressing…was cut on a customized late Neumann VMS80 lathe with fully recapped electronics from 192kHz restored masters of the original Trident Studios master tapes, with no additional processing on transfer. The half speed was cut by John Webber at AIR Studios.”
The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars (often shortened to Ziggy Stardust) is the fifth studio album by Bowie, released on June 16, 1972 in the U.K. through RCA Records.
The album is considered one of Bowie’s best works and has appeared on numerous lists of the greatest albums of all time.
