Oskaloosa’s Maleah Walker tied two school records Tuesday (5/3) at the Little Hawkeye Conference Track Meet in Oskaloosa. The junior won the long jump with a leap of 18 feet even. That tied the record set by Taylor Richardson in 2014. Walker’s time of 12.35 seconds in the 100 meters was good for second place in the race…and tied Kristy Roozeboom’s school record set in 1976. Oskaloosa’s Faith DeRonde was a double winner at the Conference meet, winning the shot put and discus. And the Indians’ Jordan Czerwinski won gold in the 400 meter hurdles. Norwalk won the girls’ team competition with Pella second, Oskaloosa fourth, Newton sixth, followed by Grinnell and Pella Christian.
On the boys’ side of the Little Hawkeye Conference track meet, Pella won the team competition, with Newton in third place, Pella Christian sixth, Oskaloosa seventh and Grinnell eighth. Oskaloosa’s top performer was Tatum Westercamp, who was third in the 110 hurdles.
