Several area wrestlers have advanced to district competition after Saturday’s (2/5) section meets. In Class 1A, Sigourney-Keota sent nine wrestlers to districts: Reanah Utterback at 106, Austin Gorsh at 113, Brady Clark at 120, DJ Hammes at 132, Evan Dawson at 152, Cade Molyneux at 160, Jack Clarahan at 170, Aidan Schuster at 182 and Connor Reed at 220 pounds. North Mahaska’s Paul DeJong at 132 pounds, Michael DeJong at 145 and Trace Goemaat at 285 all advance to the section meet, as does Blake Juhl of Pekin at 170.
Also advancing in Class 1A are Lynnville-Sully’s Terran Gosselink at 132 pounds and Maxwell Mintle at 152; and from English Valleys/Tri-County, Ty Moore at 138 pounds and Joshua Osborn at 152.
Looking at Class 2A, EBF advanced five wrestlers to districts: Tyler Schutt at 126, Hunter McFadden at 160, Kyler Ricard at 170, Blake Jager at 182 and Skyler Young at 285. Grinnell’s Dylan Heater at 106 and Logan McDonald at 120 also advanced. No Oskaloosa wrestler finished first or second at the section meet in Grinnell, but four Indians finished in third place: Ty Lorentzen at 113, Reid Luck at 120, Garrett Roethler at 132 and Warren Feudner at 285.
Also in 2A, nine wrestlers from Albia are still competing for a place at State: Wyatt Stewart at 106, Carter Anderson at 113, Brodie Conner at 120, Dawson Bonnett at 126, Logan Carter at 138, Justin Keller at 145, Eli Zanoni at 152, Lance Helm at 160 and Paul Ballard at 220. Knoxville wrestlers advancing are Marco Alejo at 113, Luke Spaur at 132, Tristan DeJong at 160, Gavin Montalvo at 170, Wayne Johnston at 182 and Trenton Kingery at 220. Also, PCM’s Remington Fry advances at 120 with teammates Donovan Nickelson at 195 and Kaden Clark at 285.
District meets in classes 1A, 2A & 3A will be this coming Saturday (2/12).
