Wednesday (1/26) was a big day for the William Penn men’s basketball team. The day started with the Statesmen being ranked number one in the nation in the new NAIA rankings. Then the Statesmen scored a 95-81 victory at Peru State. Kevion Blaylock, who is this week’s Heart of America Athletic Conference men’s basketball player of the week, had 25 points and 14 rebounds as the Statesmen improved to 20-1 on the season and 11-1 in the Conference.
In the women’s game, William Penn fought back from an eleven point halftime deficit to beat Peru State 79-74. Junior Morgan Terry scored a career high 30 points for the Statesmen, who improve to 3-20 overall and 3-9 in the Conference. The Statesmen basketball teams play Evangel Saturday (1/29) in Springfield, Missouri.
