More recognition for Oskaloosa volleyball player Faith DeRonde. The senior outside hitter was named the Class 4A player of the year by the Iowa Girls Coaches Association. DeRonde is also on the 4A All-State first team, 4A All-Southeast District team and Elite All-State team, which includes all five classes of Iowa volleyball.
Oskaloosa’s Jennifer Comfort was named 4A Southeast District Coach of the Year and the Indians’ Maleah Walker was chosen to the 4A All-Southeast District team.
Two Pella players received 4A second team All-State honors: Avery Amelse and Bailey Van Voorst. They are also on the 4A All-Southeast District team along with Brittany Bacon of Knoxville.
In Class 3A, Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont’s Molly Shafer made the All-State first team, with her twin sister Kate on the All-State third team. The Shafers are also on the 3A All-Southeast District team.
In Class 2A, Sarah Gritters of Pella Christian earned honorable mention on the All-State team.
Elsewhere, Jillian French and Rylee Dunkin of Twin Cedars are on the Class 1A All-South Central District team, with Shanae Wetering of Montezuma on the 1A All-Southeast District team.
