With the high school volleyball season over, it’s time to announce the honors list. Two players from Oskaloosa, Pella and Pella Christian have earned first team all-conference honors in the Little Hawkeye Conference: Faith DeRonde and Maleah Walker of Oskaloosa, Avey Amelse and Bailey Van Voorst of Pella and Sarah Gritters and Natalie Harrill of Pella Christian. All but Walker are seniors. Second team honors in the Little Hawkeye Conference go to Olivia Gordon and Lucy Roach of Oskaloosa, Makenna Smith of Grinnell and Pella teammates Jasmine Namminga and Anna Vander Waal. Honorable mention goes to Aubree Blanco and Abygail Thompson of Oskaloosa, Gretta Dodd and Bailey Strovers of Grinnell, Kadance Ahn and Aurora Nehring of Newton, Ella Corbin and Meridith Rowe of Pella and Pella Christian teammates Chloe Huisman and Trinity Vos.
Moving to the South Iowa Cedar League, Montezuma’s Rylie Little was named Coach of the Year. First team honors went to libero Zoe Deucore of North Mahaska, Shanae Wetering of Montezuma, Layla Hargis of North Mahaska and Madelynn Hornback of Sigourney. Second team honors go to Montezuma setter Katie Reynolds, Sigourney’s Raegan Rozenboom and Brookelyn Hemsley, Macy Schmidt of Tri-County, Korrinn Kehoe of Montezuma and Kaitlyn Van Donselaar of North Mahaska. Honorable mention in SICL volleyball goes to Mackenzie Jackson and Taylor Kindred of Keota, Aliya James and Lily Zylstra of Lynnville-Sully, Izzy Roorda of Montezuma, North Mahaska’s Reagan Grewe and Carlie Scholtus, Sigourney’s Emma Hammes and Amiya Smallwood and Tri-County’s Peyton Icenbice and Lauren Molyneux.
