The Iowa high school volleyball playoffs begin Monday night (10/18).
In Class 1A Region 6, Sigourney opened with a 3-0 victory over Tri-County. The Savages will now host Iowa Valley in the quarterfinals Wednesday night (10/20). You can hear that game on KMZN AM & FM with the pregame show at 6:45 and the first serve at 7.
Also in 1A Region 6, Montezuma swept Twin Cedars and North Mahaska beat Melcher-Dallas 3-0, setting up a showdown between the Warhawks and Bravettes Wednesday night in Montezuma. And Belle Plaine defeated Lynnville-Sully 3-0. In Class 1A Region 8, WACO eliminated Keota 3-1.
In Class 2A Region 4, Pella Christian advanced by beating East Marshall 3-0; the Eagles play at top seed Dike-New Hartford on Wednesday.
And in Class 3A Region 5, EBF defeated PCM 3-1 behind 22 kills and six aces from Molly Shafer. The Rockets will host Chariton Wednesday night in the region semifinals….after Chariton swept Albia 3-0.
Tuesday night in HS volleyball….has playoff games in Classes 4A & 5A. In 5A, Ottumwa hosts Waukee. In 4A, Knoxville at Indianola, Newton hosts Des Moines Hoover, Grinnell at Benton and Mount Pleasant at Fairfield. The Fairfield/Mt. Pleasant winner plays at Oskaloosa Thursday night (10/21).
