Some of the top 14-year-old baseball players in the country are on their way to Ottumwa. The Babe Ruth Baseball 14-year-old World Series will be held in Ottumwa starting Saturday (8/14). Ottumwa Coach TJ Heller says he’s expecting thousands of visitors in town.
“With a long 2020 year with COVID, I think a lot of people are looking forward to getting out and trying to get back to finding a normalcy. And one of those is watching youth baseball at a high level.”
Teams from New Jersey, Arkansas, North Dakota, Oregon, New Hampshire, California, South Dakota, Wisconsin and Florida will be playing in this tournament. Games will be played at Greater Ottumwa Park. Opening ceremonies are set for Saturday at 1:30, with games at 2:30 and 5:30 Saturday and Sunday (8/14 & 15). There will be games Monday through Friday (8/16-20) at 5 and 7:30pm with the championship game next Saturday, August 21 at 1pm.
