One day after a strong showing at the Drake Relays, Oskaloosa’s girls track team won the Newton Invitational Friday (4/23).  The Indians took home six gold medals: Maleah Walker in the long jump and 100 meters, Faith DeRonde in the shot put, Sophia Dykstra in the discus, as well as the Indians’ 4 by 100 relay team of Jordan Czerwinski, Abi Thompson, Faith DeRonde and Maleah Walker and the distance medley relay team of Macie Krier, Faith DeRonde, Abi Thompson and Sage Adam. Osky’s girls return to the track Tuesday (4/27) at Grinnell.

In the boys’ competition at Newton, Ottumwa finished first with Oskaloosa eighth.  The Indians’ Patrick DeRonde finished second in the 1600, while Osky’s 4 by 400 relay team also finished second.  The boys’ next meet is Tuesday at Carlisle.
