A large mural of the late Van Halen guitarist Eddie Van Halen was officially unveiled on his birthday on Tuesday, January 26.
Artist Robert Vargas painted the huge 17-foot tall, 105-foot long painting outside the Guitar Center Sunset Boulevard store in Hollywood. The painting shows Van Halen playing his signature “Frankenstrat” guitar.
“In honor of @eddievanhalen’s birthday, we unveiled an incredible tribute by artist @therobertvargas today at GC Hollywood,” the instrument retailer wrote on Instagram.
“This mural celebrates the passion and virtuosity of Eddie’s playing that has and will continue to inspire generations of musicians. Take a closer look in our stories!” Eddie’s son and former bandmate, Wolfgang Van Halen, replied with a pair of heart emoji and praying hands.
Van Halen died in October after a battle with cancer.
