It’s opening night for high school football. Oskaloosa kicks off its 2020 season Friday night (8/28) with a home game against Dike-New Hartford. The Wolverines may be a Class 1A school, but they’re ranked third in the state in Radio Iowa’s preseason rankings. Oskaloosa Coach Jake Jenkins talks about the matchup.
“They have about the same amount of guys out for football as we do. It’s a very even matchup when it comes to that. They have an excellent tradition; they’re coached very well. Their kids play hard. We’re watching a lot of film and they play extremely hard. So my hat’s off to them and they probably should be ranked number one. We saw their game against Regina last year and we saw them play South Hardin and a couple of other games and they are a tough, tough team. We expect an absolute battle tonight.”
The Indians game with Dike-New Hartford starts at 7:30 Friday night at Statesmen Community Stadium. Remember, you can hear Oskaloosa Indians football all season long on KMZN AM & FM. Our pregame coverage will start at 7:15.
