A woman from New Sharon is charged with first degree murder in the death of her husband. The Mahaska County Sheriff’s Office tells the No Coast Network they were called shortly before 10am Wednesday about a possible homicide. Around 12:15 that afternoon, the body of a dead adult male was found at a home in the 2400 block of 135th Street in rural New Sharon. Court documents say 69-year-old Carol Ann Davis of New Sharon told a Sheriff’s Deputy she had shot her husband, Steve Davis, in the head on Sunday morning. She told investigators that she shot her husband in his sleep after he complained of issues at work and asked her to shoot him once he fell asleep. Carol Ann Davis is charged with first degree murder and is being held on $1 million cash only bond. She is being held in the Mahaska County Jail.
