Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards has revealed that he has finally quit smoking.
Richards, known for his hard living for several years which included drugs and booze, gave up drinking in 2018. He now says he has not been smoking cigarettes since October 2019.
During an interview last Thursday, Richards spoke about the Rolling Stones’ upcoming U.S. tour this spring and also explained that he has taken another step in his resolution to get healthier and to keep rocking.
“I’ve given up smoking…since October,” Richards said. “Done that, been there.”
Richards made headlines in 2018, when he revealed about giving up liquor and finding drugs “not interesting” and suggested his remaining vices were rock and roll and the occasional glass of Pinot Grigio.
He said last year that kicking nicotine was harder than quitting heroin.
The band’s 2020 No Filter Tour commences on May 8 in San Diego, California. The final concert is scheduled to be held on July 9 in Atlanta, Georgia.
Richards said the group has added more dates because, “I think both Mick Jagger and I felt that on the last tour we were just getting going.”
They previously toured the U.S. in 2019, but rescheduled some dates after Jagger underwent heart surgery.
