Oskaloosa High’s boys and girls basketball teams had a busy weekend…..with games Friday (12/20) at Newton and Saturday (12/21) at home against Eddyville-Blakesburg Fremont. The Indians girls lost at Newton 62-31, then lost in overtime to EBF 66-59. Oskaloosa’s Macie Krier made a three-pointer with three seconds to play in regulation to force overtime. Krier had six three pointers on the night as part of a career high 24 points. Eleanor Breon had five of her team-high 14 points for EBF in the overtime as the Rockets improve to 4-4 overall. Oskaloosa’s girls are now 1-6 on the season.
As for the Oskaloosa boys, they dropped a 69-55 decision at Newton on Friday night, then on Saturday, the Indians held on for a 67-65 win over EBF. Oskaloosa led by 17 points late in the third quarter, but the Rockets went on a 14-0 run to bring some drama back into the game. Keaton Flaherty had 16 points, Noah Van Veldhuizen 15 to lead Oskaloosa. Isaiah Smith had 17 for EBF. Oskaloosa’s boys are now 4-3 on the season. The Indians basketball teams are off for the Christmas break. They’ll return to action January 7 with a home game against Norwalk.
